Museums, libraries, archives, and cultural institutions preserve the evidence, artifacts, records, discoveries, and stories that make careful inquiry possible.
The Eftsona Museum & Library Program recognizes the professionals who protect, organize, interpret, preserve, and share that knowledge. Program recognition is optional. Free Investigator membership is available to everyone without an application or professional verification.
This is not a discount, paid partnership, professional credential, or promotional exchange. It is Eftsona’s recognition of work that sustains public knowledge and responsible inquiry.
Library Access
Free Investigator Membership
Create a free Investigator account to access the investigation library immediately. Applying for Museum & Library Program recognition is separate from library access.
Included Access
Full Investigation Library
Free membership includes the Investigation Library, Atlas, Deep Dives, and member publications. Bookshop purchases and Academy enrollment are separate.
Optional Recognition
Professional Affiliation and Good Standing
Program recognition may continue while the participant remains professionally eligible and the program remains available. Eftsona may periodically request reasonable confirmation for that recognition. Library access does not depend on professional eligibility.
Professional verification applies only to program recognition. Free membership remains subject to Eftsona’s Terms of Service.
Eligibility
Who May Apply for Recognition
Applications are welcomed from professionals whose current work contributes materially to preserving, organizing, researching, interpreting, conserving, or sharing knowledge.
Qualifying Institutions May Include
- Museums and science centers.
- Public, academic, research, and special libraries.
- Archives, government archives, and historical societies.
- Universities, colleges, and research institutions.
- Collections, preservation, and cultural-heritage organizations.
Qualifying Roles May Include
- Curators, assistant curators, and museum educators.
- Librarians and research or reference-library professionals.
- Archivists and digital archivists.
- Collections managers and registrars.
- Conservators and preservation specialists.
- Special-collections and historical-society staff.
- Digital-collections professionals and comparable roles.
These examples are not exhaustive. Applicants whose work fits the purpose of the program are encouraged to apply even when their exact title is not listed. Applicants should have a current professional affiliation that Eftsona can reasonably verify.
Application Review
A Straightforward, Individual Review
The process is designed to confirm professional affiliation without creating unnecessary burden for the applicant.
Submit the Application
Provide your name, professional email address, role, institution, institutional website, and the basic information needed to understand your affiliation.
Eftsona Verifies Eligibility
Verification ordinarily relies on an institutional email address, institutional website, staff-directory listing, professional profile, or similar public source. Limited supporting information may be requested when those sources are inconclusive.
Receive the Decision
If clarification is needed, Eftsona may contact the applicant using the email address provided. Approved applicants receive information about their program recognition. No approval is needed to create a free Investigator account.
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Review time may vary according to verification needs and application volume.

Recognition Without Obligation
Participation carries no promotional, collaborative, or publication requirement.
Independence
No Employment, Accreditation, or Endorsement
Participation does not make an applicant an employee, agent, representative, accredited professional, or official investigator of Eftsona. It does not imply that the participant’s employer or institution endorses Eftsona, or that Eftsona endorses that employer or institution.
Participants may occasionally be invited to recommend resources, suggest topics, provide context, review material, or share expertise. Every invitation is optional, and declining has no effect on eligibility.
Information and Privacy
Limited, Purposeful Use
Application information is used to evaluate eligibility, communicate with applicants, and administer the program. It is handled under the Eftsona Privacy Policy and may be processed by service providers needed to operate the application and membership systems.
Eftsona does not sell application information, require promotional participation, or publicly identify a participant or institution without appropriate permission. Applicants should redact sensitive identifiers from any optional supporting document.
